Description:
Thanks to the fast paced world of technology, amazing tools for literacy are becoming increasingly available and integrated into the mainstream. Dan Gilman and Amber Fulcher from the Vermont Assistive Technology Program will lead a hands-on exploration of low to high tech tools that help level the field and make literacy a possibility for everyone. Participants will learn about alternative access to text for people with disabilities, including practical applications of handheld e-readers, audible books, physical and visual access to tablets, use of Smartphones, and computer access. They will discuss how making this technology available promotes universal design and benefits all patrons.
