Event Type: General Workshop Date: 7/9/2010 Start Time: 9:30 AM End Time: 3:00 PM Description: Besides the duties and responsibilities associated with being a professional librarian, the one-person library (OPL) director must also be a teacher, consultant, educator, fundraiser, grant writer, community organizer, computer trouble-shooter, custodian, clerk, baby sitter, publisher, and more. . Much of the success of an OPL will depend on your attitude, personality and the people you associate with at your library. In this session we will cover how to define your library’s role in the community. Running a one-person library can be a daunting task. We will cover some important survival skills that will help to make your life easier and more efficient.
Topics that will be included are: • A review of DOL support (workshops, collections, consulting, grants, ILL, technology) • Getting organized, prioritizing your workflow to get the most out of your workday • Working well with others: board members, volunteers, Friends, town officials.
