In The Double Bind, a literary thriller with references to (and including characters from) The Great Gatsby, Chris Bohjalian takes readers on a journey through one woman's obsession with uncovering a dark secret. Laurel Estabrook lives in Vermont and works for a service agency helping the homeless.  After she is shown a box of photographs taken by one of the shelter's clients she struggles to unlock the secrets the pictures hold.
To participate in these discussions it is necessary to read the selection prior to the meeting. The library will make every effort to have multiple copies of the books available beginning the evening of the previous month’s discussion. No registration is necessary. Young adults as well as adults are welcome. A sign interpreter is available through a grant from the Friends of Penfield Public Library.
