Food for Fee$ Amnesty Week

All Day

Event Details

Clear unpaid library fees and get a fresh start during amnesty week by donating food to those in need. During this week only, library customers will receive a $1 credit on overdue fees for each donated non-perishable food item. There’s no limit to the amount of food accepted, and it must be in undamaged and unexpired condition. Customers may deliver non-perishable items to the circulation desk at any of the six branch libraries of the Osceola Library System during regular business hours. A staff person will apply the credit to each customer’s account. Donated food will be given to The Green-Bag Project, a local school pantry program that will distribute the collected food to school children and families in each Library’s immediate service area. The goal of this initiative is to help the community. It supports literacy by giving customers an additional option to pay-off fees, and it supports healthy families by giving the donated food directly to Osceola School Children and families in need. The Osceola Library System proudly asks you to join us in “Paying it Forward” to support our community! Please note: Fees will be forgiven for late fees only. They cannot be applied for charges related to lost or damaged items or for service fees (such as printing, copying, ILL, etc). Donations will also be accepted from those patrons who do not have fees on their cards. To assist in The Friday Back-Pack Project donations of the following food items are suggested: This is the program that specifically supports Osceola School children by filling their backpacks full of food each Friday macaroni and cheese oatmeal peanut butter (in a plastic container) jelly (in a plastic container) dry noodle soup
