Early Childhood Essentials: Keeping Our Kids Safe - ROC

Event Type: Program for Adults
Date: 11/12/2013
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Description:
Join Holly Tiret, MSU extension educator, for a series of discussions on preventing and keeping kids safe from bullying. This session focuses on the victim, or target, of hurtful language and bullying behaviors. Activities focus on taking power away from the person engaging in bullying behaviors by helping those targeted feel empowered, confident and prepared to respond when it happens. Look at risk factors and consequences of bullying, explore how parents can help and discuss the difference between aggressive and assertive approaches. Receive professional development hours or just learn some great information about early childhood -- perfect for parents or child care providers! Session offers one hour of professional development. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Adults only please; child care is not provided.Sponsored by the Friends of the Krause Memorial Library.
