Event Type: Workshop Date: 11/4/2009 Start Time: 9:00 AM End Time: 4:00 PM Description: If subject cataloging with the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) is a bit mysterious to you, this two-day workshop will shed light on the processes of determining appropriate LC subject headings and constructing them correctly according to LC practice.
Subject analysis, the principles and structure of LCSH, how to combine various subdivisions with headings and the content and coding of subject authority records in the MARC 21 Format for Authority Data are addressed in this workshop, which is based upon the “Basic Subject Cataloging Using LCSH” workshop prepared by the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) and the PCC (Program for Cooperative Cataloging). We’ll also look at the Program for Cooperative Cataloging’s Subject Authority Cooperative Program (PCC SACO) and how you can propose new subject headings through it. This in-person workshop runs 9am-4pm Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, Nomver 5th at the Lawrence Public Library, Board Room (lower level). Cost is $325 and offers 12 hours of CE credit. Registration is required. Location: See Event Description field Contact: Regan Harper Contact Number: 800-397-1552 Presenter: Linda Gonzalez | |
