Today, 20 bridges link the island to the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx, and to New Jersey. I will tell the stories of how and why the most famous bridges were built, including the High Bridge of the Croton Aqueduct, the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, Queensboro, and Triborough Bridges, and the George Washington Bridge.
