Manhattan Bridges Powerpoint Program

Event Type: Adult
Date: 11/19/2015
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Description:
Join Kevin Woyce as he presents a show about the history - past to present - of Manhattan's bridges. Through vintage photos and entertaining, fact-packed history, Kevin will lead us through a mind-expanding journey.

"Manhattan’s first bridge, the wooden King’s Bridge, opened in 1693.

Today, 20 bridges link the island to the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx, and to New Jersey. I will tell the stories of how and why the most famous bridges were built, including the High Bridge of the Croton Aqueduct, the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, Queensboro, and Triborough Bridges, and the George Washington Bridge. The program is illustrated with original photographs and historic images of Manhattan’s iconic bridges—past and present—and of the city they helped to shape." - Kevin Woyce.
