Your World Rocks

Where: Hillsboro Main Library at Multipurpose Room

This dynamic presentation consists of “hands on” examination of numerous rock, mineral, and metal samples. We will learn how minerals are used. (Oh, yes! Over six different minerals are added to an Oreo cookie!) We will finish with a fun experiment, drilling a geology cupcake and mapping the geological cross section. For ages 5-12. Quake-Up Call

Join James Roddey, an expert on Northwest geologic hazards, as he talks about the very real threat of a catastrophic earthquake in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Roddey will discuss what a possible earthquake disaster might mean for the Pacific Northwest, and how a community can prepare for a large-scale disaster.

The purpose of the “Active Parenting” class is to support the development of the human potential in children through family structure, offering parents the information and essential techniques to foster cooperation, values, responsibility, and self-esteem in their children. Please note: The class is taught in Spanish.

The class meets 4 consecutive Tuesdays (June 11, 18, 25 & July 2) for 2 hours each meeting. The class is free but has a limit of 15 adults. Participants must register for the first class and attend all sessions. Free childcare is provided for children between 2-6 yrs. old. To register, please call the library or visit us in person.

CelloBop with Gideon Freudmann

Join us at the Hillsboro Main Library for an afternoon of Gideon's innovative sound as he plays a set of original songs and instrumental music on the electric cello.
