Review: Steinbeck explores and exposes the human spirit in this work of literature. He explores the pro and anti Nazi feelings during World War 2. Steinbeck sets up the scene in a very simple but profound way, He allows the reader to experience the actions, reactions and experiences of all the characters in a little European town and the group of soldiers, who conquer them. The entire novel explores the question "Who has the upper hand in this war?". The novel was great. It read very well, with some lite humor in every chapter.
