Great Conversations is a national program sponsored by the Great Books Foundation for people who wish to engage in a dialogue about thought-stimulating readings. The Great Conversation program differs from other book discussion groups in two important ways. First, in the 13-week program the literary perspective isn't limited to just one book, rather it covers 13 authoritative selections, each no longer than 20 to 30 pages. The time span of the selected readings runs from the ancient “Story of Samson”, to the modern “What We talk About When We Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver. The course is unique in a second way because program participants are encouraged to follow their own personal interpretation of the readings, thus avoiding pre-packaged “expert” opinions. The focal point of the dialogue concentrates on the relevancy of the selection to the present day. The Program is facilitated by Dr. Renato Bellu, a resident of Boca Raton and Professor Emeritus at The City University of New York.Library: Spanish River Library Boca Raton
